Siberian Ibex
Capra sibirica
The Siberian ibex is a powerful mountain goat of Central Asia. Adult males carry long, heavily ridged horns and a beard, while females are smaller with shorter horns. Herds graze and browse on steep rocky slopes. Zoos keep it in secure mountain-style paddocks with firm climbing surfaces, shelter and space to manage males separately when needed. Females bear live kids. Its huge backward-curving horns distinguish it from the short-horned Himalayan tahr.
