Chilean Six-Eyed Sand Spider
Sicarius thomisoides
The Chilean six-eyed sand spider is a flattened, sand-colored species from Chile that conceals itself in loose substrate. Toxicology research found venom activity capable of damaging skin and blood cells, making it unsuitable for handling or casual keeping. Human clinical evidence is limited; this does not establish safety. Only experienced venomous-arachnid keepers should consider secure, clearly identified housing with sandy substrate, shelter and suitable insect prey. Females lay eggs in silk sacs.
