Small-Spotted Cockroach
Balta notulata
The small spotted cockroach is a patterned Balta kept in specialist collections. Adults of both sexes have full wings marked by a network of chestnut-brown to faintly purplish veins. Captive colonies use warm conditions, moist substrate, drier surfaces and good ventilation, with varied food and secure cover. Females lay egg cases. Many Balta and related roaches look similar, so an attractive wing pattern alone is insufficient to confirm identity without reliable stock records.
