Solomon Island Eyelash Frog
Cornufer guentheri
Native to the Solomon Islands, this forest-floor frog is bred by specialist amphibian keepers. Its pointed snout and fleshy projections above the eyes resemble a fallen leaf; adults vary from brown to yellow or green. Keepers provide moist, well-drained substrate, leaf litter, hides and supplemented insects. Water dishes must be shallow with easy exits because it swims poorly. Females bury eggs in the soil, and the young hatch as froglets without a free-swimming tadpole stage.
