Mixed Breed
A mixed breed Spalding peafowl is a Spalding-type bird whose hybrid background, percentage, or color-variety ancestry is blended beyond a single named line. Spalding peafowl already sit in a managed hybrid category, so mixed breed usually points to incomplete or combined aviculture records rather than a separate species. Birds may show anything from mostly Indian blue traits to stronger green peafowl influence, depending on the parents.
For an owner or breeder, the label is less important than the bird's build, sex, fertility, hardiness, and compatibility with the flock. Spalding peafowl need tall, secure roosts, predator-resistant housing, and enough outdoor space to move without damaging trains or stressing hens. Breeding programs should record parentage and avoid presenting mixed birds as fixed-percentage Spaldings unless that background is known.
