Strawberry Long-Wing Roach
Ischnoptera rufa
The strawberry long-wing roach is a small Ischnoptera maintained in specialist and feeder colonies. This captive stock has been identified as Ischnoptera rufa, a species with an introduced population in Florida. It grows and breeds readily in warm conditions with humid, ventilated shelters, moist substrate and varied food. Females lay numerous egg cases. Young roaches shelter beneath loose cover, while adults climb and fly, so enclosure security must account for both stages.
