Swole Horned Roach
Hormetica strumosa
The swole-horned roach is a large Hormetica maintained in specialist colonies. Its earthy brown forewings and contrasting orange-toned head shield resemble related glowspot roaches, but Hormetica lacks their characteristic paired glowspots. Captive colonies need warm conditions, moist burrowing substrate, ventilation and varied food. Well-fed groups breed more readily than isolated pairs. Females retain their egg cases and release live young.
