Tawny Cockroach
Ectobius pallidus
The tawny cockroach is a small outdoor Ectobius found in European habitats and introduced parts of North America. Adults are pale brown, with fine darker markings that can resemble other small woodland roaches. Specialist colonies need ventilated shelters and attention to the seasonal life cycle: older nymphs require a cool period before maturing. Females lay egg cases, and successful hatching depends on suitable moisture cycles. It is also traded as the spotted Mediterranean roach.
