Tessellated Gargantuan Cockroach
Archimandrita tessellata
The tessellated gargantuan cockroach, commonly called the giant peppered roach, is a large forest species kept by specialist breeders. Adults have broad, finely mottled wings, unlike the more sharply patterned shields of many Blaberus. Colonies need roomy, ventilated housing, moist organic substrate and vertical surfaces for molting. Dead hardwood leaves are an important part of the food and shelter. Females retain their egg cases and release litters of live young.
