Mixed Morph

In the veiled chameleon trade, mixed morph describes a Chamaeleo calyptratus produced from lines carrying more than one color or pattern influence. A mixed animal may show traits associated with blue bar, yellow bar, piebald, translucent, normal wild-type, or combinations that do not sort neatly into one named morph. It is still the same arboreal chameleon from Yemen and southwestern Saudi Arabia, with a tall casque, grasping feet, and strong sex differences in adult color and size.

The morph label should not change care. Mixed-morph veiled chameleons need solitary housing, a tall well-ventilated enclosure, UVB lighting, a basking area, drinking water supplied by misting or drippers, and varied gut-loaded insects with appropriate calcium. For breeding, clear parentage notes and photographs matter more than a catchy label, especially when translucent or piebald traits are subtle or unevenly expressed.

Colors: Blue Bar, Normal/Wild Type, Piebald, Translucent, Yellow Bar
