Vervet Monkey
Chlorocebus pygerythrus
The vervet is an African monkey with a gray-green coat, black face and contrasting pale brow and cheeks. Groups forage in woodland and savanna, eating fruit, seeds, leaves and small animals. Zoos manage social groups with climbing routes, ground foraging and sheltered separation rooms. Females bear live infants. Chlorocebus pygerythrus is distinct from the greener-coated green monkey, Chlorocebus sabaeus. US primate-import restrictions apply.
