Northeastern Brazilian Yellow Scorpion
Tityus stigmurus
The northeastern Brazilian yellow scorpion is a yellow species with a dark triangular head marking and a dark stripe along the back. It occurs in northeastern Brazil, including urban environments, and can be confused with other yellow Tityus. Specialist facilities need tightly sealed enclosures with secure refuges, substrate and water.
Its venom is medically significant and can cause severe illness, especially in children; never handle it. Females bear live young, and reproduction without males occurs in some populations.
