Yellow-Striped Poison Frog
Dendrobates truncatus
A poison frog of Colombia's Magdalena basin, this species has a black body with narrow yellow side stripes. Amphibian hobbyists breed it in humid, well-ventilated terrariums with dense planting, shelters and supplemented small insects. Females lay eggs in protected ground-level sites, and parents can carry the tadpoles to water. Its relatively large body and simple stripes differ from the tiny yellow-marked Ranitomeya frogs. Captive sourcing should be documented.
