Mixed Morph

A mixed morph African clawed frog is a Xenopus laevis showing ancestry or appearance from more than one color line. In captivity this may involve albino, golden, pearl, piebald, snowflake, white, or normal wild-type traits. Because these frogs are fully aquatic and often bred in colonies, mixed morph labels are useful when visual traits are blended or when parent lines were not kept separate.

Care focuses on stable aquarium conditions rather than display color. African clawed frogs need clean dechlorinated water, secure lids, gentle filtration, and food that sinks within reach of their strong forelimbs and clawed toes. They are opportunistic predators, so tankmates must be chosen carefully. Breeders should separate lines when color predictability matters and keep clutch or parent records, especially because young frogs can change appearance as they mature.

Colors: Albino, Golden, Normal/Wild Type, Pearl, Piebald, Snowflake, White
