Genetic Stripe
A genetic stripe ball python is a recessive morph with a clean stripe running along the back and reduced or altered side pattern. Unlike a random striped normal, a true genetic stripe passes through a known recessive inheritance pattern: visual animals have two copies, and het animals carry one copy without reliably showing the stripe. Stripe width, side markings, and contrast can vary by line and by any additional genes present.
Genetic stripe ball pythons need ordinary ball python care, with no special husbandry linked to the pattern. Breeders value the morph because it can organize the pattern in clown, albino, axanthic, pastel, and dark-gene projects. Records are essential, since a snake that looks striped is not automatically a genetic stripe, and a het genetic stripe may look normal. Buyers should ask for parent pairing information and clear dorsal photos before relying on the label.
