Ghost
A ghost ball python is usually a hypomelanistic recessive morph, often called hypo, that reduces dark pigment and gives the snake a softer, faded, or cleaner appearance. Depending on the line, ghost animals may show lighter blacks, muted browns, and a gentle washed tone rather than a sharp high-contrast pattern. Several hypo or ghost lines exist in the hobby, so compatibility and naming can matter in breeding programs.
Ghost ball pythons are kept under normal ball python conditions, with attention to humidity because pale, clean animals make stuck shed easy to notice. Breeders should know which ghost or hypo line they are working with before pairing animals, since not every similarly named line is necessarily compatible. A het ghost may look normal, so proof and parent records are valuable. Buyers should ask whether the animal is visual ghost, proven het, possible het, or part of another hypo-like project.
