Unknown Morph
Unknown morph is a practical label for a ball python whose genetic identity is not known. It is common in rescues, rehomed pets, older collections, and animals sold without reliable paperwork. The snake may be wild type, a single-gene morph, a complicated combination, or a visual animal carrying recessive genes that cannot be confirmed from appearance alone. Because many ball python traits overlap, photographs and color descriptions rarely prove a morph by themselves.
The safest approach is to treat an unknown-morph ball python as an individual pet unless a breeder is prepared to prove genetics over time. Its day-to-day care is the same as for other Python regius: secure enclosure, warm and cool options, hides, humidity that supports clean sheds, and feeding sized to body condition. Anyone rehoming or selling one should describe what is visible and what is unknown, rather than using uncertain morph names as a value claim.
