Brügger Zwerg-Kämpfer
The Brügger Zwerg-Kämpfer is a bantam game chicken associated with the Bruges fighter type known in German as the Brügger Kämpfer. It is a small exhibition version of a powerful Belgian gamefowl, carrying the upright posture, broad shoulders, muscular build, and alert expression expected in game bantams. Color varieties differ by national standard, but type is more important than novelty color. The name may also appear without the umlaut as Brugger Zwerg-Kampfer.
Today these chickens are kept for exhibition, breed preservation, and specialist hobby flocks, not for fighting. They need secure pens, dry footing, and careful introduction to other birds, since males may be assertive as they mature. Breeding focuses on compact size without losing the strong game outline. Because the breed is uncommon outside central European poultry circles, prospective keepers should confirm standard expectations and arrange unrelated bloodlines before starting a breeding pen.
