Columbian Rock
Columbian Rock is a color variety of the Plymouth Rock chicken, carrying the Rock type in a white bird marked with black in the hackles, tail, and wing accents. The contrast gives it a clean, showy outline while keeping the broad body, yellow skin, single comb, and practical dual-purpose frame associated with Plymouth Rocks. It is not a separate species or modern production hybrid, but a variety within a long-established American chicken breed.
Small farms and exhibition breeders usually keep Columbian Rocks for a mix of eggs, table qualities, and heritage poultry interest. They need the same sound management as other heavy Rocks: dry housing, steady feed, room to move, and attention to leg strength as birds mature. Breeding pens should select for crisp Columbian markings as well as body width, temperament, and laying ability, because color alone does not make a useful Rock.
