Deutsche Zwerg-Sperber
Deutsche Zwerg-Sperber is the bantam version of the German Sperber chicken. It preserves the barred, sparrowhawk-like appearance of the large fowl in a smaller body suited to exhibition pens and compact poultry yards. The breed is more than a random barred bantam; it should show the German Sperber character, clean pattern, active carriage, and balanced proportions at bantam scale.
Keepers often choose Deutsche Zwerg-Sperber for show breeding, heritage interest, and manageable flock size rather than heavy egg or meat production. They need secure runs, good feather condition, and feed that supports laying without making small birds overweight. Breeders should select for sharp barring, correct body shape, vigor, and reliable reproduction. When buying, it is worth confirming that the birds come from a true Zwerg-Sperber line rather than from mixed barred bantams.
