Dulong
Dulong is a Chinese indigenous chicken associated with the Dulong people and remote mountain areas of Yunnan. It is a local poultry resource rather than a familiar show breed, shaped by village conditions, terrain, and household use. Birds recorded under this name are usually valued for adaptation, survival, and cultural context as much as for egg or meat output.
Managing Dulong chickens outside their home region calls for respect for their small-population status. Keepers should provide secure housing, parasite control, steady feed, and enough outdoor space for active behavior while recording origin carefully. Conservation value depends on maintaining a line connected to real Dulong-area stock. Crossing may improve size or production in the short term, but it can quickly erase the regional traits that make the population worth preserving.
