Hacikadin
Hacikadin, also written Haci Kadin or Hacikadi, is a Turkish local chicken described in breed resources as a small black fowl with a hatchet-shaped comb. It is sometimes discussed in connection with the Gerze chicken, and some sources treat it as a possible Gerze variety rather than a fully separate standardized breed. That uncertainty is part of the breed's story: Hacikadin is best understood as a rare Turkish local poultry type tied to regional household eggs, meat, and preservation work.
Management should treat Hacikadin chickens as a conservation-minded rural breed. They need secure roosting, protection from predators, and feed support through seasons when ranging is poor. Breeders should keep track of source families and avoid uncontrolled crossing, especially where commercial layers or broilers are common nearby. Practical selection for fertility, livability, black plumage, and useful egg production will do more for the line than repeating an uncertain label without maintaining the birds behind it.
