Ketawa
Ketawa, often called Ayam Ketawa, is an Indonesian chicken from South Sulawesi whose identity centers on the rooster's laughing crow. The word ketawa means laughter, and mature males are selected for a broken, rolling, chuckling call that carries differently from an ordinary farmyard crow. Plumage and body shape can vary between lines, so voice, stamina, and presentation usually matter more than one fixed color pattern.
Keeping Ketawa chickens means planning around sound as well as ordinary poultry care. Roosters need housing where their calls will not create neighbor problems, and males may need separation once they compete or challenge each other. Breeders should record mature crow quality, parentage, temperament, fertility, and general vigor, because young birds cannot be judged fully. Shade, dry roosts, clean water, and enough space help these active Southeast Asian birds stay in condition.
