La Fleche Bantam
The La Fleche bantam is the small form of the French La Fleche chicken, carrying the breed's dramatic V-shaped horn comb on a compact body. It is mainly an exhibition and enthusiast bird rather than a miniature meat breed. Good examples should still echo the long, refined outline and alert carriage of the large fowl, with black plumage remaining the familiar show color in many settings.
La Fleche bantams suit keepers who want rare French poultry in a smaller pen, but they still need secure housing, dry footing, and protection from rough larger chickens. The horn comb draws attention, so breeders should watch symmetry, skull shape, vigor, fertility, and body balance instead of exaggerating the comb alone. In cold climates, small birds with exposed combs need draft-free winter quarters. Eggs are modest, and the breed is best chosen for type, history, and careful preservation.
