Sindhi
The Sindhi chicken is a regional chicken associated with Sindh in Pakistan and nearby South Asian farming systems. It is best understood as a local or landrace-type fowl rather than a tightly standardized exhibition breed. Birds may be kept for meat, eggs, and household breeding, with selection shaped by heat, village range, seasonal feed, and the practical needs of smallholders.
Sindhi chickens should be managed as hardy farm birds, with special attention to shade, ventilation, clean water, and secure night housing in hot areas. Breeders should choose replacement birds from hens that actually perform well, not simply from the boldest-colored or largest individuals. If the flock is being preserved as Sindhi stock, records of source district, family lines, and any outcrossing are important. Local names can lose meaning when birds are mixed without documentation.
