Taliu Black-Bone
The Taliu black-bone chicken is a Chinese native chicken associated with Yunnan and the black or dark internal tissues seen in fibromelanistic poultry. Black-bone chickens are often kept for specialty meat, cultural food uses, and genetic-resource conservation. The Taliu name ties the birds to a specific local population rather than to every dark-skinned chicken.
In Taliu black-bone flocks, the expected pigmentation needs to be checked alongside health, fertility, growth, and laying. Housing and feeding are normal chicken work, though humid or mountainous conditions may call for careful ventilation and dry sleeping areas. Buyers should not assume every black-skinned chicken is Taliu stock. Source location, flock records, and consistent traits across generations are important when the line is being preserved or studied.
