Wuwei
Wuwei chickens are a regional Chinese chicken label tied to Wuwei, a place name most often associated with northwest China. Public descriptions are thinner than for major international breeds, so the safest reading is a local farm type selected under regional conditions rather than a single standardized show bird. Such chickens are generally discussed for practical use, resilience, and local food value.
Keepers should begin with the source flock's actual traits: mature weight, egg production, plumage, broodiness, heat or cold tolerance, and temperament. Management may need to account for drier or more variable climates than southern Chinese breeds face, with wind protection, clean water, and balanced feed being especially important. A Wuwei breeding program should preserve the documented line rather than blending it into a general mixed village flock.
