Wybar
The Wybar is a British autosexing chicken developed from Wyandotte type with barred ancestry, creating chicks whose sex can be read from early down markings when the line is properly maintained. It was meant as a practical utility breed, combining the Wyandotte's rounded body and rose comb with the labor-saving advantage of sex-linked barring. Wybars are usually discussed in gold or silver forms rather than as a broad rainbow of varieties.
For keepers, the autosexing trait is only reliable when the breeding line has been selected carefully. Crosses and poorly maintained strains may lose the clear chick markings that make the breed useful. Flocks need ordinary dual-purpose care, including dry housing, balanced feed, and enough space for moderate activity. Breeders should watch both sexing accuracy and Wyandotte-like body quality, since either one can slip if selection becomes too narrow.
