Xingwen Silkie
Xingwen Silkie refers to a Silkie or black-bone chicken associated with Xingwen, in the part of southwest China where dark-tissued poultry has long been kept for food, household production, and local breeding. The name may include silky feathering, dark skin, and dark bones, but the regional identity matters as much as the outward Silkie look. It should not automatically be treated as the same as a small exhibition bantam Silkie.
Keepers need to protect these birds from wet housing because soft feathering can hold moisture, while still giving them the space and nutrition needed for normal chicken health. Breeding should confirm dark-tissue traits, fertility, and consistent type, not just fluffy plumage. If Xingwen Silkie birds are part of a conservation flock, source notes and careful pairing are important, since crossing with generic Silkies can quickly blur the local strain.
