Zielononóżka Kuropatwiana
Zielononóżka Kuropatwiana, often translated as the Polish Green-legged Partridge, is a traditional Polish chicken with greenish shanks and partridge-pattern plumage. It developed as a hardy country fowl, especially in free-range and low-input systems. The breed is valued less for heavy production than for its rustic constitution, active foraging, and regional character among central European heritage chickens.
Small farms and conservation flocks keep Zielononóżka Kuropatwiana for outdoor egg production, breed preservation, and Polish poultry heritage. The birds do best with room to range and can be restless in cramped housing, so fencing and predator protection matter. Breeders should maintain the green leg color, partridge type, and functional body without selecting only for show traits. Because the breed has been part of genetic-resource conservation, accurate flock records and careful sourcing are especially useful.
