Danish-Swedish Farmdog
The Danish-Swedish farmdog, also called dansk-svensk gardshund in Scandinavia, is a small, smooth-coated farm dog from Denmark and southern Sweden. Despite its terrier look, the breed is usually grouped with pinscher-type farm dogs. Traditional jobs included ratting around barns, warning of visitors, moving comfortably among livestock, and living closely with the family. Most are white with black, brown, tan, or mixed patches, and their compact, balanced build gives them quick turns and good jumping ability.
For its size, this is an athletic dog, and training, play, nose work, agility, or controlled vermin work help give it a task. The short coat is easy to maintain, but the busy mind needs more than a walk around the block. Many Danish-Swedish farmdogs are social and biddable, yet their prey drive can be real, so introductions to cats, poultry, and small pets should be managed. In countries where the breed is still emerging, clear registry paperwork and health testing matter more than a generic farmdog label.
