Entlebucher Mountain Dog
The Entlebucher mountain dog is the smallest of the Swiss mountain dog breeds, developed as a cattle-moving and farm dog in the Entlebuch region of Switzerland. It is a compact, muscular tricolor dog with a short coat, strong legs, and a quick, driving way of moving stock. The breed combines herding push, watchdog awareness, and close attachment to its family.
Entlebuchers need active homes that can provide training, exercise, and jobs that use their intelligence. They can be cheerful and loyal, but may be noisy, forceful, or suspicious without early socialization and boundaries. The short coat is easy to maintain, though seasonal shedding occurs. Breeders should screen hips, eyes, patellas, and urinary or kidney concerns where relevant in their lines. Buyers should ask whether puppies come from working, show, or companion-focused backgrounds, because energy and confidence can vary.
