Pražský Krysařík
The Pražský Krysařík, or Prague Ratter, is a very small Czech toy dog with roots in Bohemian companion and ratting dogs. It is often compared with the Miniature Pinscher or Chihuahua, but it is a distinct breed with its own registry history and type. The dog is fine-boned, alert, and lively, with a compact body, large upright ears, and a smooth or semi-long coat depending on the variety. Black and tan is common, with other tan-pointed and solid colors accepted by some standards.
Despite its size, the Pražský Krysařík benefits from real training, safe exercise, and early socialization. It can do well in apartments, but it should not be raised as a fragile novelty or encouraged to bark at every sound. Dental care, patellar stability, weight control, and protection from falls are practical concerns in such a small dog. Cold weather may require a coat, and play with larger dogs needs supervision. Because the breed is rare in many countries, buyers should be cautious of extreme miniaturization and look for breeders who prioritize sound movement and steady temperament.
