Shichi
The Shichi, also written ShiChi or Chi-Tzu, is a companion-dog cross between a Shih Tzu and a Chihuahua. It is not a standardized breed, so puppies can grow into very different adults: some look like small Shih Tzus with long coats and short faces, while others inherit the Chihuahua's finer frame, large ears, and alert expression. Most remain toy-sized, and coat length, color, shedding, and bite can vary widely even within one litter.
Good care centers on small-dog safety and everyday manners. Shichis need gentle handling, protection from falls and rough play, and early socialization so they do not become fearful or snappy. Long-coated dogs require brushing and trimming around the eyes; all toy dogs benefit from dental care and weight control. Health questions should cover patellar luxation, eye injury, heart disease, dental crowding, airway issues in short-faced pups, and low blood sugar in very tiny puppies. Adoption through rescue is common, and breeder claims should be checked carefully.
