Crested
The crested guinea pig has a short, smooth coat with a single rosette on the forehead. Its crest forms a circular crown, while the rest of the coat lacks body rosettes or ridges. In Britain the corresponding breed is called English Crested, with a crest that follows the body's color. The British Cavy Council gives it a Full Standard under the Crested Cavy Club's current listing. ARBA published a Crested working standard for 2026: these cavies may enter sanctioned shows as exhibition animals but may not compete for Best in Show.
That insert requires the crest's color or colors to appear on the body and distinguishes the breed from White Crested. The European standard also includes Crested. A white crown on an otherwise colored body belongs under the separate White Crested or American Crested description. For British presentation, the crest should be deep and symmetrical, radiating from a pinpoint center, with a clean, smooth body coat.
