Koi

A koi guppy is a fancy color strain inspired by the red, orange, white, and sometimes black contrast associated with koi patterning. Many lines show a pale body with strong red or orange on the head, tail, or fins, and some are built on albino or translucent backgrounds. The term is used visually in the aquarium trade, so exact pattern expectations can vary between breeders.

Koi guppies need careful selection if the goal is a clean red-headed or red-tailed look. Color can fade into patchy orange, and pale-bodied fish may show stress or poor condition quickly if water quality slips. In a home aquarium, they do well with gentle filtration, plant cover for fry, and tankmates that leave fins alone. Buyers should choose active fish with clear eyes and even color rather than washed-out juveniles sold too early.

Colors: Albino, Bicolor, Blue, Cobra, Dragon, Dumbo Ear, Endler, Grass, Green, Half-Black, Japan Blue, Koi, Leopard, Metal, Mosaic, Moscow, Multicolor, Neon Blue, Platinum, Red, Snakeskin, Solid, Tuxedo, Wild Type, Yellow
