Platinum

A platinum guppy carries a pale metallic or pearly base that can make the body look silver, white, or softly reflective. Platinum may appear alone or as a foundation for red, blue, yellow, or albino-influenced lines, and the effect is strongest when the body sheen is clean rather than gray. The label is common in fancy guppy breeding because it can change how other colors appear on the fish.

Platinum guppies are managed like other ornamental guppies, but breeders must watch for color cleanliness and vigor at the same time. Pale fish can make weak body condition more visible, so active swimming, full fins, and steady growth are important buying cues. In breeding tanks, outcrossing may improve health but can reduce the pearly base. Clear records of pairings help maintain the platinum effect without narrowing the line too far.
