Tuxedo

Tuxedo guppies are fancy Poecilia reticulata selected for a dark rear half of the body, usually paired with a contrasting head, shoulder, and tail color. The pattern is sometimes called half-black in aquarium circles, but tuxedo lines often carry brighter finnage than the plain label suggests. Males show the sharpest contrast, while females may display a subtler dark saddle or rear body wash depending on the line.

Aquarists keep tuxedo guppies much like other fancy guppies, with attention to stable warm water, gentle filtration, and enough plant cover for fry. Breeders usually separate males and females early, then choose parents with clean body division, strong fins, and sound movement rather than color alone. Because the tuxedo pattern can be crossed into many tail colors, photos and parent notes help buyers understand whether they are getting a stable line or a mixed fancy strain.
