Scandaroon
The Scandaroon is an old fancy pigeon with a long curved beak, arched head profile, tall neck, and carrier-like outline. It descends from the broad historical world that produced carriers, dragons, and other long-faced pigeons, but modern Scandaroons are exhibition birds rather than message carriers. Their head, beak, neck, and stance give them a severe, refined profile unlike round-headed tumblers or broad utility runts.
Scandaroons need careful management because extreme head and beak type can affect feeding, pairing, and chick rearing in some lines. Breeders should value sound breathing, clear vision, fertility, and steady parenting alongside the dramatic profile. Housing should provide room for a tall, active pigeon and avoid crowding that damages beaks or facial feathering. Buyers should inspect mature birds from the side because the breed's quality is easiest to judge in profile.
