Argente Bleu
Argente Bleu is a silvered domestic rabbit variety in the old Argente family, associated with French and European fancy breeding. The name means blue silver, and the desired coat is a soft blue base overlaid with even silver ticking rather than a flat gray or broken pattern. Young Argente rabbits are usually born darker and develop their silvery guard hairs as they mature, so final color cannot be judged fully in the nest. The type is a medium, rounded meat-and-fur rabbit, less common than Argente de Champagne in many regions.
Management is much like that of other medium commercial rabbits, with attention to ventilation, dry flooring, and steady hay in the diet. For breeders, the challenge is balancing body type with clean silvering: too little ticking can leave the rabbit looking blue, while excessive whitening can wash out the surface color. Buyers should ask whether the line follows a national standard, because Argente names and accepted colors vary by country. Good handling matters, as a calm rabbit is far easier to evaluate for coat, condition, and breeding soundness.
