Astrex
Astrex is a rabbit coat label associated with a wavy or curled fur mutation, historically discussed near rex-coated rabbits but not maintained everywhere as a stable mainstream breed. The name is most useful when it tells a breeder that the animal has a curly, plush, or waved coat character rather than a normal smooth coat. Because the trait can be inconsistent, Astrex should not be treated as a simple color name.
Owners of Astrex-type rabbits need to watch the coat without overgrooming it. Wavy fur can trap debris or show wear differently from a standard coat, while some individuals may have only partial curl as they mature. Breeders should be plain about whether the line breeds true, whether it is attached to a recognized standard, and whether the rabbits are being kept for coat preservation, exhibition novelty, or general companionship.
