Britannia Petite (US)
In the United States, the Britannia Petite is the American Rabbit Breeders Association name for the tiny full-arch rabbit related to the British Polish. It is separate from the US Polish, which is a compact dwarf-type breed with a much rounder body. A US Britannia Petite is judged on a fine-boned, lifted outline, short ears, bright expression, and a high, active pose. The breed is one of the smallest recognized show rabbits, with seniors kept within a narrow weight range, and its show colors are set by the current standard.
US exhibitors often value the Britannia Petite for the challenge of presenting a lively rabbit that must stand up cleanly rather than sit in a compact pose. Daily handling from the nest box helps, but the breed remains quick and easily startled compared with many commercial or pet breeds. Housing can be physically smaller than for large rabbits, yet it still needs room to move, solid traction, and protection from drafts and heat. Prospective pet homes should meet adult stock before buying, because temperament varies widely among lines selected mainly for the show table.
