Criollo
Criollo is a broad Spanish-language label for local or creole rabbit populations descended from domestic stock and shaped by regional use. It is not one single worldwide breed with a fixed color or body standard. A Criollo rabbit may represent farm-selected, village, or research stock that has adapted to local climate, feed, and management over generations, especially in Latin American contexts.
The useful questions around Criollo rabbits are practical rather than cosmetic. What region or herd do they come from, how large do they mature, how well do the does raise litters, and what conditions were they selected under? For small farms, such rabbits may be valuable because they fit local systems. For conservation or study, the label needs careful records, since two Criollo populations can differ greatly while sharing the same general name.
