Jersey Wooly
The Jersey Wooly is a small United States wool breed developed to combine dwarf size with a manageable wool coat. It has upright ears, a compact body, and a full wool covering, but it is not simply a tiny angora. The head and ears should stay relatively clean of heavy furnishings, giving the breed a distinct look from English Angoras or long-coated lops. Many color groups are recognized, from self and shaded colors to agouti, tan pattern, and broken varieties.
Its practical appeal depends on honest grooming expectations. A well-bred Jersey Wooly can be easier to maintain than high-production angora wool, yet the coat still needs regular checking around the belly, hindquarters, and shoulders. Breeders watch texture because overly cottony wool mats quickly, while harsh or sparse wool loses breed character. Pet homes should pair calm handling with a combing routine before tangles form, and show breeders need to track color group, wool density, and compact type together.
