Lilac (US)
The Lilac in United States registry use is a recognized breed as well as a color word. The breed is valued for a uniform lavender-gray coat, moderate compact type, and a calm presentation, while lilac as a variety can also occur in breeds such as Havana, Mini Rex, Mini Lop, and Netherland Dwarf. That overlap is why the name should be read with registry context rather than by color alone.
American Lilac breeders usually focus on keeping the coat even from surface to undercolor, with enough body quality to avoid becoming only a color project. Because the breed is less common than many showroom rabbits, responsible breeding often means preserving useful lines rather than chasing rare-color novelty. Buyers should ask whether the rabbit is a Lilac breed rabbit or a rabbit of another breed in lilac variety. The difference matters for showing, breeding plans, and mature size.
