Lop Rabbit
Lop rabbit is an umbrella label for domestic rabbits whose ears hang downward instead of standing upright. It is not one single breed. English Lops, French Lops, Holland Lops, Mini Lops, Miniature Lops, Cashmere Lops, and many other regional or specialist breeds all belong to the lop family, but they differ sharply in size, coat, head shape, and registry standards. A rabbit with dropped ears may also be a lop mix with no exact breed assignment.
The practical context depends on which lop is actually in front of the keeper. Long-eared breeds need ear care and space very different from a small dwarf lop, while woolly lops add grooming and mat prevention. Lops can be prone to ear canal issues because the ear carriage reduces airflow, so routine checks are sensible. For identification, ear position alone is only a starting clue; mature weight, coat type, crown shape, body length, and breeding history are needed before naming a specific lop breed.
