Malta
Malta is best read as a regional or landrace-style rabbit label unless a specific club standard is provided. Maltese rabbit keeping has a long association with meat production and local domestic stock, including the indigenous Tax-Xiber type described in agricultural writing. Such rabbits are not the same thing as a globally uniform showroom breed with one fixed body type and color standard.
Practical use of the Malta label should stay transparent. In a conservation or farm context, ancestry, local adaptation, litter performance, and disease history may matter more than appearance alone. In pet or hobby listings, the label can easily blur with ordinary mixed domestic rabbits unless the breeder can explain the line being preserved. Keepers in warm Mediterranean conditions also need to think concretely about shade, ventilation, water, and parasite control rather than assuming standards written for cooler show halls apply unchanged.
