Opossum
Opossum in rabbit breed lists usually points to a rex-family coat form rather than to the wild marsupial. The label has been used for rabbits with long, plush, curly, or woolly rex-influenced fur that can give a pale, tipped, opossum-like effect. It is not one of the common mainstream show breeds, and descriptions vary enough that it is safer to speak of an Opossum Rex type or coat label unless a breeder supplies a specific standard.
For keepers, the coat is the main issue. Long or curly plush fur can mat, trap bedding, and hide skin irritation more easily than normal fur, so grooming has to be based on the individual rabbit instead of on generic Rex care. Buyers should be cautious with casual novelty listings: true rex texture, wool influence, body size, and family history need to be checked separately, especially when the name is being used for a rare or experimental line.
