Rhinelander
The Rhinelander is a German marked rabbit breed with an arched, athletic outline and a white coat patterned with two colors. The classic look includes colored ears, eye circles, cheek spots, a butterfly marking on the nose, a spine stripe, and side spots, traditionally in black and orange or in blue and fawn depending on the standard. It is smaller and racier than a Checkered Giant, though the family resemblance can be obvious.
Rhinelanders are challenging show rabbits because markings must land in the right places while the body remains balanced and active. Breeding marked rabbits can produce mismarked animals, so serious breeders plan pairings carefully and do not judge a young rabbit by color alone. Owners should provide room for movement and confident handling. True Rhinelander identity depends on pattern, type, and breeding background together, not just a spotted pet-rabbit coat.
