Zika
Zika is a little-known rabbit label that should be treated as a rare, regional, or historical name unless a keeper can point to a specific standard or source population. It does not tell a buyer enough on its own to predict size, coat, color, or temperament. The name may still be useful in a collection or preservation context, but only when paired with careful notes about where the rabbits came from and how consistently they breed true.
Care should be based on the individual rabbit's body and coat rather than the label. Breeders who maintain Zika stock can strengthen the name by tracking parentage, health, reproductive traits, and the range of colors or types that appear. If the rabbits are mixed or their background is uncertain, it is better to say so plainly. Pet homes should ask the ordinary questions about diet, housing, handling, and veterinary history before attaching much importance to the breed name.
